Street Performers

At the beginning of November every year, the world cup of street performers convenes in my city. Many artists come from all four corners of the earth. They perform everywhere in the city. All the performances were free, and it was up to us whether we gave them some tips. I saw some of them.

There was a performance on bicycle. First, a woman did a one-handed handstand and balanced on a male performer’s hand. Then the man rode a bicycle, carrying on his shoulder a woman who was carrying another woman on her shoulder. One of the women did a handstand on the bicycle. The male performer held one of the women in a horizontal posture.

There was a performance by a pair. A man put a hat on his toe, kicked it up, and skillfully put it on his head. He supported the body of another man on his neck, and they juggled.

Two people started coming down from the top of the building. They walked and danced on the side of the building. The woman did a handstand on the men's hands. It seemed as if they were doing them vertically from the ground.

A man with an incredibly flexible body bent his arms in an unnatural direction. Two women climbed curtains and danced between them. There was also a small theatrical performance, a man mimed wearing some masks, and another man played kendama – cup-and-ball games – using three balls.

There was also a magic show. A man entered a box, and other men stuck many sharp things through it before removing them. The man came out of the box unscathed.

In the evening, there was a big light show. First, some angels showed up behind us, the audience. We parted to let them through. They moved forward, scattering something like snow. A singer started singing on the stage in front, and I turned my eyes forward to find a man riding a bicycle in the air while playing the violin. The angels kissed on the stage and the firework appeared behind the singer. Then the angels moved under the ring. A crane car pulled up the ring, which started rotating like a merry-go-round. Many images related to the city showed up on the side of the ring, while the angels danced on the bicycle. At the center, there was a woman dressed in a red skirt, and another woman who came out by stepping down rope ladders and danced underneath. Finally, the fireworks sprayed out of the ring and angels opened umbrellas.

The following day, I saw a man's performance. He balanced a plate on a pipe, and then he did a handstand on the plate. He jumped up from one plate, skipping a rope and tumbling, and then he skillfully landed on another plate.

I saw a performance by the group that won the championship last year. They played the guitar and sung, amusing the audience with humorous comments and acts. They changed guitars while playing and then amazingly tossed them into the air. Even so, their music was perfect without any interruption.

In another performance, a man piled pipes and plates, and then he stepped on it and played the flute. Two men got into a balloon and they piled up.

According to the news the following day, an artist whose performance I had missed won the championship this year.
